Compare the Cursed Waters Kelpie Tankard and the Ride or Die Mug on price, style, and collecting appeal, with clear guidance on which novelty coffee mug fits your routine.
Quick answer
Choose the Ride or Die Mug if you want a limited-edition, handcrafted mug built around an active, on-the-go coffee routine. Choose the Cursed Waters Kelpie Tankard if you prefer a darker, folklore-inspired coffee tankard and want the lower-priced option of the two.
Price and value: what the catalog tells you
The Ride or Die Mug is listed at USD 19.00 against a catalog comparison price of USD 38.00, while the Kelpie Tankard is USD 23.00 against a comparison price of USD 46.00. Both are shown at half of their comparison price, so the gap between them is a straightforward USD 4.00. If budget is the deciding factor, the Ride or Die Mug costs less; if you are drawn to the Kelpie design, the difference is small enough that style can reasonably win.
Design story: adventure fuel versus folklore
These two mugs pull from very different themes. The Ride or Die Mug is described as limited-edition and handcrafted, with copy aimed at people squeezing in miles before work or taking the long way home. The Kelpie Tankard leans into Celtic mythology, describing a shape-shifting water spirit that is part horse and part sea creature. Neither listing supplies capacity, dimensions, material, or care instructions, so treat the design story as the main differentiator rather than assuming a size or finish.
What a coffee tankard changes about your routine
A tankard-style mug like the Kelpie usually signals a more decorative, display-friendly piece, while the Ride or Die Mug reads as everyday gear for someone who drinks coffee around activity. Because the catalog does not list capacities for either mug, do not buy based on assumed volume. If you need a specific size for a large pour-over or a long commute, check the product page details before ordering, or compare against a mug you already own.
Trade-offs to weigh before you buy
- Price versus design draw: The Ride or Die Mug saves you USD 4.00, but the Kelpie Tankard offers a distinctly darker, mythology-driven look. Decide whether the small saving or the design story matters more to your daily coffee ritual. Set a firm budget before browsing so the USD 4.00 gap does not become the only reason you choose.
- Limited-edition versus themed collectible: The Ride or Die Mug is explicitly described as limited-edition and handcrafted, which makes it the stronger pick if you collect mugs that may not be restocked. The Kelpie Tankard is built around a specific folklore theme, so it appeals more if you want a conversation piece.
- Everyday use versus display: If your mug travels between kitchen, desk, and gym bag, the Ride or Die Mug's adventure framing fits that routine. If the mug mostly stays on a shelf or desk as a novelty coffee mug, the Kelpie Tankard's tankard styling earns its place. Check the product page for capacity and care details before committing either mug to daily use.
